The xVM Team would like to thank all of the individuals who participated in the xVM Server Early Access Program and Open Source Community over the past several months. The EA Program and Open Source Project were very successful in lending Sun insight into how customers would use our managed type-1 hypervisor for virtualization. As a result of the feedback, we have concluded that a general purpose, multi-node solution is required. So we have refocused our efforts around use-cases where Ops Center becomes the central way to manage the hypervisor. In addition, we've started on a trajectory where we will converge the xVM Server and OpenSolaris lines so that exactly the same code base is used for both.

At this time, we are concentrating on including xVM Server as a Beta-level feature of the next Ops Center release and will be pushing towards full support of the xVM hypervisor that's included with OpenSolaris in a future release of Ops Center. The xVM Server Early Access code in Ops Center can be deployed through Ops Center only, not as a standalone product. Therefore we have closed the separate xVM Server Early Access Program and Open Source Project.
